How To Make a Simple Website (Beginner Guide)

Sunday, July 19, 2026

Creating your first website doesn’t need to be complicated. With the Simple Web Start sitebuilder, beginners can build a clean, professional website in just a few steps. This guide walks you through the essentials of choosing a template, adding content, updating images, and getting your site ready to publish.

Start With the Free Demo

If you are new, open the Site Builder Demo in the Classroom Hub. It lets you practise safely before creating a real website. If you already have hosting, log in to your control panel and open your live builder.

Choose a Template

Pick a layout that suits your project, business, personal, portfolio, or a simple one‑page design. You can change colours, images, and text later.

Add Your Main Header

Add a header block, write your page title, and set it to H1 for SEO. You can adjust colours, fonts, and sizes using the paintbrush icon.

Write a Short SEO Description

Add a 150–160‑character meta description to help search engines understand your page. This can be placed directly inside your header block.

Adjust Spacing & Layout

Use the spacing controls to tidy your layout. Move blocks up or down, remove gaps, and keep your page balanced.

Link Your Buttons

Buttons can link to your contact page, booking page, gallery, or any internal page. This helps visitors navigate easily.

Update Colours & Images

Change global colours to match your brand. Upload your own images and replace the template ones to personalise your design.

Add Content Blocks & Videos

Add text blocks, image blocks, or a video block with your YouTube link. This builds a complete, engaging page.

Add Your Logo & Menu

Upload your logo and set your business name. Customise your menu colours and navigation style to match your website.

Create a Photo Gallery

Upload multiple images and choose a gallery layout. Adjust spacing and add captions if needed.

Customise Your Contact Form

Add fields like name, email, phone, and message. This helps visitors reach you easily.

Final Step

Once you are happy with your design, you can publish your website within a new website hosting account or continue practising in the sitebuilder demo. More tutorials are available in the Classroom Hub if you want to keep learning.
