How to Add a Simple Web Page to Your Website (Beginner Tutorial)

If you are following along in the Simple Web Start Classroom, this guide will show you how to add a simple web page to your website step by step. We will add a subpage and then the header, a description block, a video block, and a final content section so your page looks clean and professional.

This tutorial is perfect for beginners using the Sitebuilder Demo or anyone with hosting through Good Web Business Hosting.

Try This on the Demo Site Builder.

If you don’t yet have a real website with us, you can still follow along.

Just go to Classroom → Sitebuilder Demo, and you’ll be able to practise everything shown in this guide.

If you do have hosting, simply log in to your control panel and follow the same steps on your real site.

🪄 Step 1 — Add a New Page.

To begin, you’ll need a blank page to work on.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Decide where you want the page to appear:Main menu (top navigation), orFooter (bottom of your site)
  3. Main menu (top navigation), or
  4. Footer (bottom of your site)
  5. Click Add

Your new page will now appear in your list of pages.

If you don’t want it visible yet, click the page and choose Hide from Navigation.

🖋️ Step 2 — Add a Header Block.

Every page needs a clear title and a short introduction.

  1. Click Add Block
  2. Choose Header
  3. Select a header style you like
  4. Replace the placeholder text with your page title
  5. Change the colour or style using the paintbrush icon
  6. Make sure the title is set to Header 1 (H1) for SEO

You can also add a meta description directly inside the header block.

I asked Copilot to give me a meta description… then paste it into the header.”

This gives your page a clean, SEO‑friendly start.

📝 Step 3 — Add a Description Block.

Below your header, add a short paragraph explaining what the page is about.

  1. Click +
  2. Choose Content → Small Description
  3. Paste your text
  4. Change the text colour to black
  5. Adjust spacing using the cog icon (20–50px works well)

You can also add a second text block styled as Header 2 (H2) to break up the content.

🎥 Step 4 — Add a Video Block.

If your page includes a tutorial video, here’s how to add it:

  1. Click +
  2. Choose Call to Action
  3. Scroll down and select the video‑style block
  4. Replace the placeholder image with your own
  5. Add your YouTube URL or internal link
  6. Edit the text below the image
  7. Adjust spacing (around 50px looks best)

“Add an image… then add the YouTube URL… you can also link it to another page.”

This creates a clean, clickable video section.

🧩 Step 5 — Add More Content Blocks.

You can finish your page with an additional content block:

  • Text
  • Image
  • Image + text
  • Call‑to‑action
  • Or any layout you prefer

Just click + and choose the block that fits your page.

Once you’re happy with the layout, click Save Changes.

🔗 Step 6 — Add Internal Links (Optional)

If you want to link your image or text to another page:

  1. Click the block
  2. Choose Link
  3. Select Internal Page
  4. Pick the page you want to link to

🎉 Your Simple Web Page Is Now Complete.

You’ve now added:

  • A header
  • A meta description
  • A description block
  • A video block
  • A final content section
  • Optional internal link

This is the exact structure used in your Simple Web Start Classroom tutorials.
